Rome, 1976. Valerio is ten-year-old boy with a strong imagination. His life is turned upside down when he witnesses a terrorist commando attempt to assassinate his father Alfonso. From that moment, fear and a sense of vulnerability mark the feelings of the whole family. During those dramatic days Valerio meets Christian, a compelling boy slightly older than him. Lonely and rebellious, Christian seems to appear from nowhere. That encounter, in a summer full of discoveries, will change their lives forever. Loosely based on the director’s own childhood experiences.
Claudio Noce was born in Rome. In December 1976, his father Alfonso Noce, Assistant Chief of Police for the Region of Lazio, was injured in a terrorist assassination plot that killed a security officer and a terrorist
Regarding Padrenostro, Noce stated “when the attack was made on my father, I was just a year and half old, enough to sense the fear but not to understand that pain and worry were going to stay inside me for a long time. I was never able to tell him this. Writing this letter to my father...has not been easy. Trying to do it by turning private words into universal ones has been a great challenge as a filmmaker and as a man."
